Good-bye, So Long, See You Sometime

Good-bye Matthew Kyle Quinn.

You are leaving Michigan after graduating with a Master’s Degree (what you think you’re my master?!) in Chemistry from Central Michigan University.

You are the second close friend to leave this state. Jon Cooley left in May to work and live in Dallas, Texas as an auditor/accountant.

Rumor has it; actually it is known that Jacob Longton will be in Philadelphia this weekend for a job interview at a Structural Engineering Firm. He will graduate from the University of Michigan on December 17, 2005 with a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering. If he accepts this job, the Monroe High School Class of 1998 will have another success story.

There was once a time when the jury was out on our little gang of friends. We did a lot of silly things from railroad track mishaps to tee-peeing houses with 500 some odd roles to works-bombs. However, we made it through our adolescent indiscretions and as far as I’m concerned we are the most successful high school class in the history of the United States…it’s true.

Think about it. Chris Merritt is in law school. David Carducci has been in barbershop quartets that have finished in the top five nationally and currently records rock n roll tunes in Ohio. DJ Freese graduated from Central Michigan and is the manager of Waldenbooks. Ryan Morgan graduated from the University of Michigan and is currently teaching at Monroe High School. Brian Kohler works at La-Z-Boy furniture in Monroe, Mi and has started to coach swimming. Jon, Matt and Jacob are being offered jobs around the country. I could go on and on, but congratulations to all of you and to anyone I may have omitted.

Matt, you will be missed very much. I still haven’t visited Jon since he’s moved, but I plan to as soon as I get some money. Then I’m out to Bolder to see you. Congratulations. I’ve known you longer than I’ve known any of my other friends and I’m proud and excited for you. Good luck.

First of all let's get some stuff straightened out. The class of 1998 might rank as one of the best ever. However, since I came out of the class of 1969 I am sure ("Are you sure?" "Pretty sure.")that it is the number one ranked class of all time. Just think of all the anarchists, hippies, great music that came out of that era and it is clear that the class of 1969 is the greatest ever.

You forgot that it has the number 69 in it. that is always funny.

Was that an Indiana Jones reference?

You have my vote!

jon, don't be fooled by the indiana jones reference...although it's awesome.

hippies are cool. the sixities were a great time for social advancements, rock n roll and sceintific progress. but the class of '69 the best ever?

but not so fast my friend.

the class of '98 rulz and everything else droolz! i say we settle this dispute billy madison style w/ an academic decathalon. only then will we know the true winner.

one thing is for certain emily's class (2001) can never compete w/ the class of '69 or '98.

hooray for school! hooray for me!
