Poor Pop Culture Knowledge

This blog will be more up Jeni’s aisle, i.e., no sports.

I just took a pop culture quiz on USAToday.com. Not so good Al.

I scored 44 points out of a possible 100. Yikes! I even got the free question wrong. It asked something about reality TV shows and I picked Kevin Federline. I don’t know why. I thought it was a trick question and thus, a safe choice.

I also didn’t know who was the first person kicked off of American Idol. (I don’t care either.) Apparently I don’t know the surnames of a bunch of pop singers. I guess I need to read more US Weekly and In Touch to keep up to date on such important information.

So I don’t know pop culture. I’m a nerd. But I do know the pathogenesis of diastolic heart failure (due to concentric hypertrophy – the sarcomeres develop in parallel, not series) as well as how to clinically differentiate between bacterial (GABHS, S.pyogenes) and viral pharyngitis. I think in the long run, for me at least, those are more important than celebrity gossip.
